Xiaomi introduced The Kings Of Mobile Photography – Xiaomi 12S Series

Today, Xiaomi again had its spectacular presentation of new products. In addition to more minor things, we received an improved Xiaomi 12S series, to which the long-awaited Ultra model was added.

The Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro models have remained true to their design, so we are talking about gently curved displays and identical designs only in different sizes. The rear glass wall already has a typical camera module, is made of durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and the sides are made of aluminum.

In the case of displays, we are talking about 6.28 and 6.73-inch panels made with AMOLED technology. At the same time, the Pro model also has LTPO 2.0 technology, which intelligently switches the refresh rate according to the displayed content. Not to mention that the Xiaomi 12S Pro model has a 2K resolution, while the base model is Full HD. There is also a fingerprint reader in the display panels.

The change occurred in the area of processors. In both cases, we find the current best processor for Android smartphones, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which replaced its previous generation. They are the first introduced smartphones with this new processor.

The cameras have also been upgraded. They have the exact resolution, as in the case of the Xiaomi 12 series. Still, here the company will mainly benefit from cooperation with the photography company Leica, whose logo is also found on the camera modules.

The Xiaomi 12S has a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 5-megapixel macro. The Xiaomi 12S Pro keeps the same primary sensor, but it is complemented by a 50-megapixel “wide-angle” and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with double zoom.

The battery capacities have not changed either, with the Xiaomi 12S having a total of 4,500 mAh and the 12S Pro 4,600 mAh. The basic model offers 67-watt charging, while the bigger brother offers up to 120-watt charging. In the case of both, the wireless solution settled on the maximum power of 50 W. Xiaomi claims that the endurance should be improved because there is a more economical processor.

You will find pre-installed Android 12 and the MIUI 13 superstructure from the factory. There is also Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and high-quality stereo speakers, which Xiaomi coordinated with Harman/Kardon.

Now we move to the jewel of today’s conference, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra model, which we have been waiting for a long time. Design-wise, it hardly differs from the front side. Here we find a 6.73-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz with the present LTPO 2.0 technology. It is, therefore, the same display as in the case of the Xiaomi 12S Pro. There is also a fingerprint reader.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor awaits us inside, which can be supported by up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. In any case, it will be powerful and a great beast.

The biggest weapon of this model is the cameras. There is also the logo of Leica, which has collaborated with Huawei in the past, and together they reached the top of mobile photography. This is precisely what Xiaomi wants to follow up on. The module is enormous, but it lost the previous generation’s secondary display.

But let’s get to the parameters. The central star is the Sony IMX989 sensor with a size of 1 inch and a resolution of 50 Mpx. Second, we have a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, which can also be used for macro shots, as it has focus, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x zoom. Xiaomi wants to attack the throne of the current king of photo mobiles with this model.

The back side is made of leather, which makes it luxurious. Xiaomi has also prepared a green color variant so that this smartphone will be a jewel in your pocket. Added to all this is water resistance according to IP68, which is not typical for Xiaomi smartphones.

As for the battery, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra model has a battery with a capacity of 4,860 mAh. That’s a decent capacity, but charging stopped at 67W, which is surprising given the Xiaomi 12S Pro’s 120W speed. Again, there is 50-watt wireless charging.

Since the smartphones were introduced only in the Chinese market, we only have the prices, which may differ from the global ones. Well, we don’t know when this news will come to Europe.

The basic Xiaomi 12S model will be sold for 3,999 yuan (570 euros), the Xiaomi 12S Pro model will be sold for 4,699 yuan (670 euros), and for the most equipped Xiaomi 12S Ultra model, the Chinese will pay at least 5,999 yuan, which is 857 euros.
