Xiaomi has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, accompanied by the introduction of HyperOS, a new customization layer based on Android 13 that replaces the familiar MIUI. The devices mark a significant step for Xiaomi, boasting the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, revamped Leica cameras, and a redesigned interface.
Xiaomi 14 Pro Overview
The Xiaomi 14 Pro features a departure from the curved edges seen in its predecessor, opting for flat metal sides with a glossy finish. The phone houses a 12-bit LTPO OLED panel, measuring 6.73 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the Xiaomi 13 Pro. However, this panel can reach an impressive brightness of 3000 nits and is protected by Xiaomi Longjing Glass.
A notable change comes in the camera department, with Xiaomi introducing a new sensor named “Light Hunter 900” along with a custom Leica Summilux lens. This 50-megapixel sensor, while slightly smaller than its predecessor, captures more light due to the brighter lens. The camera setup also includes a 75mm telephoto camera for close-up shots at a distance of 10cm, capable of capturing 40-megapixel normal photos and 50-megapixel portrait mode photos. Additionally, there’s a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with the ability to take macro shots at a distance of 5cm.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 Pro boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, based on TSMC’s 4nm process. It comes with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device is powered by a 4,880 mAh battery, supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi 14 Overview
The Xiaomi 14 shares the symmetrical design of the Pro model and is similar in size to the Xiaomi 13. It features a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 1200×2670 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 3000 nits. The phone is available in two versions: a 193g glass version and a lighter 188g nanoskin version.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi 14 maintains impressive performance with a 50MP primary camera using the “Light Hunter” sensor and a 23mm f/1.6 aperture fixed lens. The 75mm telephoto lens is identical to the Pro model, but the 14mm ultrawide lacks autofocus and macro capabilities.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Xiaomi 14 offers RAM options of 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB, and storage choices of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. The device is equipped with a 4,610 mAh battery, supporting 90W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Prices and Launch
As of now, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are exclusive to the Chinese market, with an expected arrival in Spain in early 2024. The pricing starts at approximately 520 euros for the Xiaomi 14 and 650 euros for the Xiaomi 14 Pro, based on the current exchange rate.
