Digital transformation was already a pending issue before the pandemic. Still, this health crisis has changed the work scenario in a few months and even changed the thoughts of many managers.
On the one hand, digitization has arrived overnight in many organisations and the most literal sense of the word. On the other hand, teleworking has exploded and has become a formula admired even by those staunchly faithful to face-to-face work.
A multitude of changes has taken place in the work environment this year, especially since companies have not only had to deal with their circumstances but also with the context of the global pandemic and everything that entails. However, digitization and teleworking have been the most notable points of this revolution in the work environment.
Digitization and teleworking have gone hand in hand thanks to cloud computing. Organizations have suddenly changed their priorities to adapt to this new normality with which we have been living personally and professionally for months.
Businesses have taken advantage of the flexibility and pay-as-you-go opportunity that the cloud provides. Cloud computing has made it possible to create and configure remote desktops and virtual private networks ( VPNs ) for secure remote working and video call systems.
This reconversion of standard work models has also allowed a review of the processes of the workflows and has managed to experience a reduction in costs.
After years of warming up the office chair with which we had all the materials to work, this rapid transformation concludes with one question: when all this is over, will digitization be abandoned? Will executives reluctant to telework in the beginning end up ruling it out?
Companies will seriously consider prioritizing digital and investing more in transformation. They will reformulate all processes, including those that cannot be carried out remotely, and automation will be integrated as far as possible.
The conclusion that can be drawn from everything we have said so far in this post is that both digitization and cloud-facilitated teleworking bring benefits. As has happened with many other businesses, one of the main ones has been that many organizations can continue with their work and not be forced to close.
And you? When all this is over, will we go towards a more digitized work environment? Do you believe that some organizations will resume some traditional forms?
