The language barrier is lower thanks to new technologies, which are also on YouTube. Whether we consume content on YouTube or create it, it is essential to know how we can translate YouTube videos to understand them and reach a larger audience, something straightforward to do.
The translation of the videos can benefit us, from practicing a new language with the subtitles that are generated to being able to learn a language. A method that professionals widely use is to use subtitles in our language. At the same time, we watch the video with the original audio and thus assimilate expressions as well as sounds into our vocabulary.
Steps to translate YouTube videos
The process that we are going to start with consists of activating the subtitles, a method that, as we will see, can be done on all devices. First, we will do it with the mobile since it is where we watch most videos. The touch screen will make it very easy to switch a video from one language to another.
To do this, we must enter the YouTube app, regardless of whether our mobile is Android or an iPhone. Now we select a video that interests us, either in our language or another, to do the test.
Once it has started to play, we can stop the video or do these steps while it continues. We will have to touch the three points at the top of the screen and select the one called “Subtitles” from the options.
Automatic subtitles automatically generated subtitles, and other languages do not appear here if the content creator has chosen to include others.
Translate the videos on the computer
When we are on the computer, the translation of YouTube videos is just as simple, and we have to enter the desired video and touch the button at the bottom dedicated to subtitles.
This will make them appear, but to be able to translate the YouTube video with the subtitles, what we have to do is click on the settings wheel next to it, choose Subtitles and then select the automatic translation or one of the languages added.
Why can’t I translate a video?
Suppose you have come across a video in which it is impossible to press the subtitle button. In that case, it may be because they have not worked automatically or the content creator has decided not to offer this option in their video. More and more videos integrate it through artificial intelligence on YouTube.
Other situations lead us to the fact that the subtitles button does work, but only with the original audio, and we cannot translate the subtitles and the video. In this case, it is because artificial intelligence has not been able to do it either, and also, the user has not tried to add it, something usual due to work involved.
Add translation to my videos on YouTube
Previously, we had to resort to specialized programs to put subtitles on YouTube videos. Still, thanks to the subtitles generated by YouTube, we can use them more quickly to translate our YouTube videos into the language we want.
It is only necessary to access the YouTube Creators panel, select the subtitles section and enter the desired video. Here we will have the automatic subtitles in our language at our position, and we can add new languages translated from files to offer them to users of another language.
In some cases, we will have to organize the distribution of the translated subtitles since the automatic method does not always work as we would like. Still, it will always be helpful to facilitate the process.
